free photo shoot
for homeless and
less fortunate
people -
an amazing
experience!
On Thursday, August 23rd I’ve had the opportunity to organize a photo shoot for homeless people in Siegen, Germany. I asked “Hands of Hope” for help to realize this event. Hands of Hope was founded ten years ago and they offer a meal for homeless and less fortunate people every thursday in their café in Siegen. Their work impressed me and I was very happy when I received an answer that I can do my photo shoot there. It started at six o’clock pm. I entered the café, tables were prepared and many people already sat on the chairs and talked to each other. A band played some modern worship songs. The founder of “Hands of Hope”, Achim Paul, gave me a room to prepare the set and after some minutes I was ready to shoot the guests.
Some of the guests were so excited because it’s been their first professional photo shoot since more than twenty years or in some cases their first shoot ever. We’ve had much fun to take the perfect picture. Best thing was I saw that I made them happy for this special moment and they really enjoyed it. I printed the pictures and handed them over. They loved the pictures and everybody was smiling. But I never expected to receive so many thanksgivings, handshakes, hugs and smiles. Twenty people including widows, homeless and lonely people and poor families experienced the offer to get a free photo. Even the members of the café wondered how a picture can change a person. Through this experience I feel more confident to give without expecting anything - this is divine love! I’ll repeat the event again, somewhere in the world where it’s needed to see more people smiling! :D
